I'm in the process of applying for B1 visa for my parents-in-law both of which are in government service. My father-in-law seems to be having some trouble in getting a NOC from his department. According to him, it might take over a month to get the same, even if he tried.
1. I wanted to know how important it is to have a No Objection Certificate (NOC) or Letter and leave sanction letter during a Tourist Visa (B2) interview. Are these mandatory documents for the interview?
2. Have there been any instance when this were asked during an interview and the Visa got rejected since this letter was not produced ?
3. Alternatively, can one produce original appointment letter and/or identity cards in lieu of the NOC and Leave sanction letters.
