  • Interview question clarification

I am sponsring visitors visa to my parents. My client is at New jersey and employer also at New jersey (I am a consultant). But my payroll is running with Texas address. So if Visa Officer asks where is your son located? How should we answer? Since my family is located in Texas, I think they have to say Texas. please clarify.

One more clarification: Since I am working in New Jersey,I opened bank account in New Jersey. Bank address is New Jersey Address(I mean temporary). When I took account verification letter, they have mentioned New Jersey Address and provided the average bank balance letter. How should I handle these conflicts.

If they ask where is your son working? they have to say New jesey. If visa officer ask why his family is at Texas and working in New jesey. what answer they have to provide?

    FYI,
my previous W2 form is Texas address.

    appreciate your valuable suggestion.

Well, if you are trying to evade state tax as Texas does not have state tax, it is illegal and can get caught during your green card process when your entire life history along with address and time spent at each address is unearthed. If you have your family living in Texas and you have a lease to prove otherwise, it should be fine.

You are required to pay tax based on your residency. How did Texas ever get into the picture here with you and your employer both located in NJ? If you travel every week to Texas and have not given up your residency in Texas like DL, home etc as per state law, you will be fine. Provide proof of a house/apartment in Texas and let them carry it to the interview to be safe.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

What is your address with USCIS ?

Assuming you are/were in H1 or green card status, which address did you last provide to USCIS through AR 11? I think that form asks about temporary address well.

Make sure the answers are honest and consistent.
