Technically you can, but if you changed status from B1/B2 to H-1 and that too recently, they may be denied on the officer's discretion ; officers usually argue in such situations that your child changed status from a visitor , so will you. Changing status from a visitor is frowned upon by embassies.
If you changed status from another visa like an F-1,it may be different but
still a stamped H-1 gives a strong groundwork.

You can sponsor visitors without a stamp on the passport as long as you are maintaining legal status and getting paid on your H1b.
