Question at Port of entry

Pl clarify :

I came on B1/B2 in the last wk of Aprl 08 and the Imm officer asked me abt the length of my stay,I said about 7 weeks. He asked me for any return tkt. I had a confirmed one and'd shown him- booked for the 1 st of July. He said its 9 weeks not 7 and said he was entering the date of 1 st july into the computers as my return date and said one must always tell the date and i sd do so next tme. I told him that i booked the ticket quite early and want to prepone 2 weeks now due to my job back home.

But nevertheless he gave a stay of 6 months on I 94 ie till last wk of Oct 08.

This is my 3rd visit and my last one being bet feb 06- till may 15 06
Never overstayed never out of status/ nor extended

my queries are:

1.Would they particularly enter these return date details into their systems

2.and if i postone for 2-3 weeks to 15 / 20 july
will i have any problem with re entrynext visit- I plan to visit Dec 08 again.

3. can i postpone- Thanx

In general, I-94 expiration is what matters. May be the officer put in a comment about your return date in the system which could be checked by the next officer at POE.

I would say, to be safe, leave as promised. You might be legally fine as per the I-94 date but may be inviting more trouble in the future.

Yes, POE officers can put comments in the system.
