  • Mom got visa today!

    Hurry!

    My mom got visaaaaaaaaaa!
Thanks to all immihelp members who answered my questions.

She went on 05/16/2008 @ 1:30 PM (India time)
Everything went well.... she was told that she got visa and passport will be couried soon.

One question I still have of course cannot do anything about it now but just for my own relief.

The consulate asked about me (her daughter) that whether I am working in US and if I am going to have any baby soon. My mom told the truth that I am working and no that I am not having any baby.

My question now is whether my mom will get 10 yr multiple visa or only 6 months now - anybody have any idea or can guess the situation I am kinda suspicious she might get only 6 months cuz' if the consulate think long way and guess she might come here to baby sit since I am working.

Whatever it is atleast I am happy at this moment, by the way she applied as widow if anybody might have that question.

    Thanks again

In general, they have been issuing 10 years visa frequently these days than in the past. Even if it is a 6 month visa, you should be happy. If she returns back on time, the next visa will be a 10 year visa and will be issued without any problems.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

        details

        Hi,
Nothing special we did this time. Sponser documents remained the same with an exception of letter to consulate in more detail like she cannot speak english, totally dependent on her son who lives in India, her mom who is bed ridden also lives with her and she needs help so she has return back to her home country after a short visit in bullet points.

My mom was rejected twice before with app in English, this time I thought Telugu (our native language) would somewhat help and looks like it helped my mom atleast but not sure if really matters.
My mom felt confident and answered clearly in Telugu.

It was a lady who interviewed my mom and my mom told she was nice.
I think taking appt on Friday helped also or may be not before she went on Monday. Also fyi.... she did not look at any documents at all neither sponser nor visitor, only DS 156, Appt Letter, DS 157. (Poor my brother he spend lot of his time and monet in preparing the documents paying a good amt to a CA).

Anyways here are questions she was asked.
        1. Who do you live with in India - My son
        2. Is he Married and how old is he? - Yes and has 2 kids, 30 yrs old.
        3. How long he is been living in India? - since 30 yrs
        4. Can I see the Ratio Card on his name - No ration card but here is his passport.
        5. Did he ever visited US before? - No
        6. Who lives in Us - My daughter and Son-in-law
        7. Is your daughter working - Yes, both are working
        8. Again, tell me if your daughter is working? - Yes
        9. Is she going to have a baby? - No
        10. Why are you going then? - Just to visit them.
        11. Okay you got the visa and will be couried soon. - Thanks!

Let me know if you need any more details.

By app do you mean application? or the interview?

          Thanks
