  • If B2 is rejected should I wait for sometime before applying for F1

    Hi,

    My sister is applying for a tourist visa in Jun. In case that gets rejected, is there a wait time in which she cannot apply for student visa?
    Or can she apply sometime in Sep itself?

    -Shanks.

    Officially , there is no wait time but if a B2 is denied for lack of ties to home country , a student visa applied soon is likely to be denied on the same grounds, because both require ties to home country and one cannot show increased ties in 2 months.

    Advice;
    A student visa is much more important than a B2. If you think her B2 app is weak , she should not apply for a B2 and only concentrate on her student visa. Officers take student visa apps more seriously than B2 apps , so a strongly prepared student app is more likely to be successful than a weak B2 or a student app after a denied B2.
