my parents got 10 year multiple entry visa, They are planning to visit US for 6 months. They start on 6th of june and return on 6th of january how ever the travel agent told them that they are cutting very close to their 6 month stay. But the computer did generate the ticket. we can try for different dates but they are all booked. will this cause any problem. Is there a rule that they cannot stay over 6months? is the restriction with Airlines or the immigration people. please help

The computer will not restrict the ticket generation as it is not aware of the laws that applies to visitors nor the I-94 validity date. It all depends on the I-94 at the POE and you may have to change the travel plans after they enter, if needed.

It is also NOT recommended that they stay the full 6 months on their very first visit to the USA.
They need to build a good non-immigrant visa history and staying the maximum would not help. Shorter trips 3-4 months are best for a 1st, 2nd and even 3rd trip.Disclaimer: The information you obtain from me at this forum is not, nor is it intended to be, legal advice.
