  • Hi

My husband got a visitor visa interview scheduled, and he put me as a dependent on his application. I was wondering if I need to apply for a visitor visa interview appointment or the fact that I am the applicant's spouse and a dependent on his application automatically qualifies me for his interview appointment. On that note if I have no appointment and I am a dependent should we each pay the $ 131 or should we just pay the interview fee for him.
So really my question is must I as a principal applicant spouse( I will accompany him to the States) apply for an individual interview or should I just accompany him at his scheduled interview.
Any help on this matter is appreciated.

Every person intending to go the US should apply for a visa separately and pay visa interview fee separately.

In your case both your husband and you should pay $131.

I need a bit of clarification if I may. We will each pay the $131 but only my husband got a scheduled interview appointment, I did not schedule an individual appointment, since I thought that if I am announced as a dependent spouse on his application that means that I should just go with him. So do you know for certain that I must schedule an individual interview, and if so on what grounds since I'll be accompanying him on his business and technically I have no other reason for applying for an US visitor's visa, but my husband's grounds and reasons?

Once again thank you for the advice

        Ok.
When your husband scheduled an appointment, you should have also filled another application along with it. There are options for this when you fill the online application. Once you fill the DS156 and DS157 forms there is an option to add a new applicant for the same slot.

This is the right way to schedule interview appointment for multiple people (for same appointment).

Now that you didn't do it, you may want to contact VFS and check what can be done.

        Hope this is helpful.

That is how VFS website in India works. It can be different at other locations/consulates.
