  • Medical visa for parent

My father has a B2 visa already, if he wants to come to US for medical treatment, does he has to show the appointment with the dr in USA and other documents which shows the expenditure etc.
He also wants to bring 100,000$ with him, and how does he do that. How will indian govt make sure that the money he brought here is used for medical treatment alone.

    Thanks
    Rajesh

He needs the appointment with Doctors and procedures information.

      Rbi ...

... in India gives clearance for moving funds over US$10,000 for such medical or other business purposes. Talk to your CPA or your bank in India and they will clear this for you.

For the US visa, as senior PraetorianXI mentioned you need US doctor's notes, appointments and details of medical treatment.

Good luck to you and your family.

What does 100k get in US without medical insurance? Double check with the hospital that is doing the treatment about the costs. A simple surgery with 4 days in the hospital cost my insurance 40k couple of years ago before the healthcare costs sky rocketed.

People from US are visiting India for medical tourism and many have established superspeciality centers over there. The news item I read says treatment options and care in India is better than in US.

          Evaluate his options carefully.

Obviously, you can't get any medical insurance to get medical treatment.

I got to know from one of my customers earlier today that the person's visiting father had chest pain, rushed to hospital, found too much blockage in arteries, had to put stent. Total cost: $90,000

I am not sure about the reasoning for coming to the US for treatment. There is so much excellent care available in India now a days at so much lower price compared to the US.

Even the general physical check up in India in few hospitals is so much more comprehensive and exhaustive that the one done in the US is nothing compared to that. In US, general check up is over in less than 1 hour. e.g., in India, they do so many check ups for two days for less than $150.
