I have been in the United states for four years. My family and i came into the country with tourist visa's. (B-2). Earlier before the embarkment of this journey, my mother had visited the united states on two different occasions. The problem though is that, they were short visits so she didn't feel the need to inquire about the procedures staying for a long time. Four years ago, we arrived in the united states. My dad had purchased a house in Florida which we reside in as of now. My parents visited a bunch of immigration attorneys to help us change our status from B-2 to something more convenient to enable us stay in the Us legally, but what they always told us was that our B-2 would not enable us to do so. We where finally directed to this paralegal who helped us file for an extension on our I-94 but, the USCIS denied our application on the grounds that the i-94 had expired. This basically meant that we were illegal aliens now. I have now graduated from high school and i want to further my education but the administration department at the school told me that, they can't help me get back in status by helping me apply for an i-20 (Students visa). I am broken down inside just by the fact that, these immigration attorneys my parents payed and payed could have made me aware of the laws and aided me in various ways but it seems like they didn't even try anything for my family. Is there anyway i can use the laws of the land to my advantage. please help me. urgently please. anyone. pls.

How old are you? If you are below 18, you start accumulating illegal presence barring you from entry only after 18. You could still get back into legal status by leaving the country and getting a visa.

    Check with an attorney.

Paralegal made a fool out of the uninformed and wasted your money as the attorney was absolutely right.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

Your parents, and your family in general are illegally present here. Thus, no laws of the land will help them.

You can leave the country, before your 18th birthday and that would prevent you from obtaining a 3-10 year ban from re-entering the USA with a legal status.

However, your parents living illegally in the USA will make it nearly impossible for you to obtain a visa.

Your parents are ruining your life and the life of the rest of their children. They should have known better. You will not get much help or sympathy, as illegal aliens, not paying taxes? and using public education system (paid by tax payers).

You and your family need to re-evaluate this situation. Sell the house and move back to your home country if you ever wish to get some kind of education in the USA... otherwise, you are stuck.
