duration to specify in the requisition letter

Hi,

I have a query and would be grateful to know the reply at the earliest.

Iam applying for visitor visa for my mom. I want her to stay with me for six months. in my requisition letter to consulate and my mom should i specify as six months or lesser than six months, say 3 months in order to get the visa without any complications. only my mom is coming and my father is not accompanying.

NB: In DS 156 my mom has specified as 3 months.

It is Ok to mention a stay of 3 months in DS 156 form. It all depends at POE what IO gives for the stay duration in her I 94. Even if she is given 6 months stay in I94, it is advisable that she leaves in 5 months time as she is the first time visitor. This will also help her to get full 6 moths stay when she comes for the 2nd time.
