  • Date on I-94

    Hello,

My mother arrived today and was granted 6 months stay at POE. However, the stamp on her I-94 shows Jan 07 2008 instead os Jan 07 2009.
We checked that after coming home. What is the process to get this stamping changed to 2009? Please advice.

    Thanks for your help!

Just go back to the POE international airport and get it corrected at the CBP counter. Every major international airport has a deferred inspection office for CBP.

Thank you, txh1b for the quick response.

What is CBP counter, i mean full form of CBP? Is that usually at the arrivals terminal? This happened at the Los Angeles International Airport. Is there any certain time frame before which we need to go there to get this done, like certain number of days?

      Thanks for your help!

Yes, it is generally in the International arrivals area. Ask for Customs and Border Protection office in the airport and they can direct you. It is also called deferred inspection office. Getting it corrected sooner is better. Get it done ASAP. May not be much of a problem as it seems to be an obvious error.

          I-94

that happened to me also last year. the year on the I-94 was wrong. i had it corrected a few days after at the INS office in San francisco ( i was in san jose CA that time.) there's normally no question about it when the officer view it on his system. you will get a revised I-94 card immediately.

          have a good day.

Thanks a lot txh1b and tacanpb for your valuable advice and sharing your experience.
If we get it done this weekend, should that be ok or is that too long to wait?

            Thanks again

Also, should my mom be present at the airport while this date is being changed?

As per info in the link provided, it says that
"You need to bring the inaccurate I-94 and documentation supporting the claim for incorrect information."

In the examples listed, there is no such example for incorrect year entry. What kind of supporting document is needed to be provided by us? Does my mom needs to sign anything after receiving the corrected I-94?

              Thanks for your help!

It is better to taker her. Documentation would be Passport, airline boarding pass if available. That is pretty much it for an error like this.
