  • Visitors Visa rejected

    Hi All,

The Mumbai Counsulate rejected the Visitors Visa application for my parents. The reason was because - This time at the counter the visa officer asked him if he had applied for a US visa before , he answered "NO", however He had applied for a visitors visa a couple of years ago which was rejected because he overstated the time of stay in the US. The agent who was helped him fill the form advised him to say a NO since his passport was not stamped with a reject the last time he applied.

My question is - what are the next steps we can take for him to try again and apply for the visa. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    JK.

Misrepresenting factual information could lead to permanent ban. Did they overstay their previous visit in US, applied for a visa later and it was rejected earlier and they were trying again?

These agents know nothing and people get into bigger trouble because of using them.

      Thank you for replying .

No they did not overstay, actually there is a place in the application form where you have to quote the time that you want to be in the US. They quoted as 6 months because of which the visa application was rejected the first time.

DOS tracks rejections electronically and no longer uses a physical stamp on the passport.

          can they try again

My Father mentioned that they gave him a letter stating the reason and it states that he could apply again. Any suggestions about re-applying.

          Thanks,
          JK.

            Hey jyokan,

I am sorry to hear about your parents visitor visa. They seem completely random. THey give visa to people who don't deserve it, and don't give visa to our parents for some reason.

My parents are going for visa pretty soon. I was curious of what your passport tracker on VFS website says if you were to put your parents passport number. I am getting nervous.

            Thanks.

Sorry to hear your parents' application was rejected. I applied 5 years ago and the VO also forgot to stamp our passports (My sister was arguing with her) when she rejected our application. Last year I applied by myself and the VO said while looking at his computer "so you applied 4 years ago and you were a student" Everything is on their computer so never lie. He was very friendly and gave me 10 years multiple. Just pray that next time the VO will be nice and will believe they are applying to visit and not to stay illegaly. Tell your parents to smile and just tell the truth.

Who deserves a visa? Who gets to decide that? The VO of course. Visa is not a right but privilege and a vistor visa has lot more to do with luck in addition to homeland ties!

haha, true. I meant more along the line of: people with fradualent papers (in right format) prepared by agent gets visa, while people with true papers gets left out.
