I am hoping for some advice. My daughter and I are US Citizens and are residents Jamaica. Husband is Jamaican and also holds Canadian passport, so when travelling to the US he uses his Canadian docs since we really only came to the US to visit....
Anyway, in Feb our daughter became very very ill and we came to the US to sort those things out. When we arrived, they were going to give my husband a c-1 (29 days) but then we explained our situation with medical testing, and they gave him a B-2 stamp for 6 months. (we did not think we would need it at the time but turns out we did)..
Long story short, we stayed here in the US to monitor daughter and actually just got a diagnosis mid July...My husband went back to JAmaica a week later, and we all want to return to Jamaica as soon as my daughter medication is ok andd she is safe...hopefully in time for Sept school.
My question....He wants to come back to the US next week and hopefully we make arrangmements to all return in the next 3 weeks....
Because he spent 5 months in US this year, will he have a problem reentering with proper docs (ie..medical docs, tax returns, proof of our ties to Ja)...OR does he actually need to get a formal B-2 Prior to travelling from the consulate? e/we don't want to stay or migrate to the US, but wonder if they may think that because of the time we spent this year (with reason)
Are Canadians allowed to spend 6 months per year in the US or is it 6 months per entry?
I know before things got so complicated in the world he used to get a not tracking (n/c) on his passport..guess things have changed...
Thanks..we are in limbo..and don't want harrassment or problems..just looking for answers since I am reading conflicting information...
