  • Visa rejected

    Hi,
My husband was the sponsor for my parents' visa B2. However it got rejected with the following statement.
"You have been found ineligible for visa under section 214B."

Could you tell me what it means?
My husband has been in the US since 16 months and I have been here for just 2 months. The consulate asked for my passport copy with the attached I-94 and just said " I am sorry, you are not eligible for the visa".

Could you kindly tell me what could have possibly go wrong? We are totally puzzled as the consulate didnt ask for any documents.

    Warm Regards
    Vigie

It has got nothing to do with your husband's visa or yours. Each visitor has to overcome the potential immigrant burden on their own.

Read the visitor visa and rejection section from immihelp web page.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

While your parents must show ties to their home country, I believe the fact that you have been in the US only 2 months also plays into the assumption that you must have your parents near you, and they would overstay.

In the American culture, adults are assumed to be quite independent from their parents. Children may go for years at a time without seeing their parents especially if they are posted to a foreign assignment like many military families.

I suggest that you not invite them until you have been in the US for at least a year to help overcome this assumption. If you are unable to go without seeing them for extended periods of time, it would not seem that your relocation was in your best interest.
