Vistors Visa vs. K-3 Visa

Would it be wise to apply for a Visitors Visa by going to the US Embassy and if declined then applying for a K-3 Visa.

What are the negative repercussions to applying for a Visitors Visa getting declined and applying for the K-3 visa right after.

My boyfriend and I want to be united here in the US and get married and start a family.
I am a US citizen and he is a Citizen of Trinidad.

If you are not already married, you can't get K-3 visa, but K-1 visa.



You should apply for K-1 instead of visitors visa, if you intend to marry him.

Why do you suggest applying for the K-1 visa instead of going to the US Embassy to apply for the Vistors Visa?

Visitors visa is for tourism, not for getting married to US citizen. It will create a trouble for the person.

If it were absolutely fine, there would be no reason for K1 visa to exist.
