Qts abt my parents b-2 visa

I am on h1b in USA with a dependent spouse. Most of my mom's side family (2 brother's, one sister and father) are US citizens. I want to invite my parents for a short term visit here. Which one of the below options should I prefer:
1. Sponsor my parents myself (I just have about $10K as savings in my account and make about $100K in salary per annum)
or
2. I can ask my cousin (my mom's nephew) who was born here in US and has a substantial financial background to sponsor them.
I have also heard that VO usually are little reluctant to issue visa to parents when being sponsored by their children. My parents have absolutely no desire to stay here in US for longer term.

Pls advice.

*If they have very good income at home (documented family income from all sources Rs 10 lacs/yr), they should self sponsor.

*If not, you should sponsor; showing $ 100k/yr is good enough. Plenty of children successfully sponsor their parents.

*your sponsoring is more natural than nephew sponsoring.

*Ties to India are more imp. than sponsoring. Mom's close relatives as US citizens is a big negative factor. VOs tend to think US citizen relatives will help
parents settle there.
Do you have any sibings in India? Are your parents employed or retired? If they are retired with no children in India, I suggest your mom should apply alone first asking for a visit of 2-3 months.

I appreciate your response, thanks Peace. Yes my father is retired and my mom is a homemaker and they live with my brother & his wife. My sister who s married lives in the same city. They own appt there and my father has couple of financial investments there.
They have genuinely no intentions of settling in US, in fact even I don't have any plans of long term settlement here (as of now).

So what should I say in the sponsor letter? Should I mention about my maternal grandfather living here in US as a citizen or completely ignore any presence of any relative here in my letter. If they decide to self sponsor themselves then whats the procedure? Can we show my brother's income (he's a Dr) as part of their family income? Are the chances of getting Visa more if you self sponsor?

Yes, self financing increases the chances of success.
This is because the officers tend to think that someone who is financially self sufficient in India is less likely to have an immigrant intent.

That said, a large no. of parents do get visas on sposnoship from children in US, especially those who have good family ties in India.

It does not look natural to combine your parents' income with their son's income as family income. In your family setting I think it would be best for you to sponsor your
parents. You need to send an invitation letter with copies of your birth certificate (showing your parents' names) , passport and visa. A form I-134 and copies of your tax return, evidence of employment and salary.
You do not need to mention anything about US citizen relatives; that your mother will have to mention on the visitor visa application form.

Address the invitation letter to the Visa Officer, US embassy/consulate,
City, India.
Mention that you are in US on this visa working as---- with----(employer)
drawing US$------/yr. That you wish to invite your parents
for a period of 3 months ( do not mention longer stay, that has a negative
impact) and you will be responsible for their travel fare, lodging and their expenses while in US. Request the visa officer to grant them a visitor visa to your parents.

Well my parents would actually be self financing their trip atleast the travel expenses and my brother lives with my parents in their house as joint family, so can't they show his salary as part of their family income? What all docs do they need to carry to show that they have financial support to sponsor their own trip?

Will my mom have to list all the relatives ( 2 brothers & 1 sister with their families & her father) here in US in her application?

They will need to show doctor son's income proof (tax return) and evidence of practice/job. It is not good strategy to show splitting of expenses like travel by parents and rest by son. They should just say our doctor son is financing our trip and his documents should show a good income.
If there is any doubt, you should sponsor, because they could be denied for insufficient funds if the documents do not show enough income for doc son.

There is a q on the form that asks which of the following is in US and on which visa;
bro/sis
spouse/fiance
son/daughter
father/mother

she should circle the relevant and should not lie.
