B2 Visa and I-94 Form

Hi. I had valid B2 Visa till April 1st, 2008. In March I applied to extend it till September, 1st 2008. Today I called the Department of Homeland Security and they told me that I can not to have any answer (if they approve or deny)for the next 5 months But my problem is that I am going back home to Europe next week and I know that at the airport at the immigration I will have to give my valid I-94 form (but mine is expired in April 2008), I have only a receipt from the Department of Homeland Security that my case have been received and pending.
Is it gonna be enough for them? (they can check that my case is still in process).
Will I have any problems in future to get US visa?
Is there any report I can get from the Department of Homeland Security that explains "I'm in status, pending my case processsing"?

You will not have any problems LEAVING the country. Just hand out the I-94, they will not stop you or anything.

You will have problems getting more visas if your extension is denied.

YOU ARE PERFECTLY LEGAL IF YOU LEAVE BEFORE THE RESPONSE TO YOUR EXTENSION APPL.
But you must be able to prove this if you are entering again on the same visa or applying for a new one. You can do that by showing the following;


*Save the receipt of the extension appllication

* save the boarding passes for the departure journey from US to home.

*save a copy of your current I-94.

When applying for a new visa, if you are asked why you applied for an extension ; tell the officer a legit. reason and you will be fine.
