  • M1 to visitor

    Dear Admin,

I have a query since last few weeks, for which i have been doing little research over the internet but couldnt find any answer satisfactorily.
I am on an M1 visa which is valid till april 2013, but my vocational course in miami ends in october, technically within 30 days of completion of study I should leave the country. If I want to come back again, I have to re enroll with the school here for a new I-20 and come back anytime before april 2013.
But I wish to come back on a visitor visa. My question here is, will I be issued a visitor visa? If issued for what time period(appx)? And will my current visa be voided for an issue of visitor visa? can I go to bahamas or canada for a visit visa or do I have to go back to my home country?

Looking for this answer since long back, wishing some advice from u. Thanks

Visit visa is best applied at your home country. This is because ties to home country are a very important criterion in issuing a visit visa and that is best assessed by officers familiar with situations at applicant's home country.

That said, there is no guarantee you will get a visit visa. A lot depends on
the whim of the officer. Technically you need to be strong on , the purpose of your visit, stability of occupation and family at home and your income at home.

You also run the risk of having your M1 canceled if your visit visa is denied.
