  • Maximum duration of Visitor's Visa

    Hi

I wanted to clarify, when we enter into US and if it is in Visitor's Visa, whether we can tell the officer that, we need to stay for a year once he/she asks or is their any problem if we tell that we would like to stay for a year. I hear that normally people will say 6 months.

    Please clarify.

    Regards
    Saral

One could try with a justifiable reason for the same. What they get depends on the officer's discretion. What is the reason to stay for 1 year as a visitor?

I do not think that a 1 year visit falls under the terms of a VISITOR visa... what could you possible need 1 entire year for?

Most I-94 are issued for 6 months time, and if you plan on asking for more than that on your 1st visit. You can kiss your visa good bye.

          Max Stay - Visitor Visa

An applicant for admission as a temporary visitor for pleasure may be admitted for a maximum period of one year, and extensions are possible beyond that.
