Hello, I hope somebody can shed some light on a visa issue for me. I have a 1friend here from south korea on a b1/b2 usa visa. The deadline on the i-94 card is in late november. We would like to extend this visa for another 6 months, and im told that the request can be denied in most cases. However, a travel agent told me that if she were to leave the USA and go to bermuda for example which is a britsh colony, that the visa would be extended when re-entering the USA. Is this true? Please help. Thanks so much

This concept was popular and CBP knows about it very well. There is 99% chance that this will NOT work as most of them are observant about the history of visits.
And yes, if the extension gets denied, the visa is invalidated as well.
I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

quick question
When u say invalidated, are u talking about the current visa gets invalidated upon re-entering the us from bermuda? Or do u mean if we file for an extension and that gets denied then the visa is terminated at that point? Because I read somewhere that if you apply for an extension u have 30 days to leave if denied. Also, what could u say as to a good reason for staying? THANKS!
