DS-156 & HDFC Receipt

Hello,

I was trying to get an appointment for my parent's visitor visa. I filled out the DS-156 form from the link Dept. of State web site.
I did not enter the HDFC receipt number anywhere and it gave me a PDF of the forms with bar codes in it.
My question is : Does this bar code (the one in DS-156) have to be the same as the one on the HDFC receipt number? What are the consequences?
