Guess its the destiny of widows . My mom got rejected yesterday in Chennai consulate . Only questions asked were How many children ? ( I am the only child) and when did your husband expire? And we are permanent residents. She did not even see any document though my mom had all pension papers , property document and even booked tickets with her return being in May. Sad that people are so inhumane........

How long should we wait to reapply?

Pregnancy is not a good enough reason for a visitor visa to be granted... and specially not for parents, because of the high number of people who overstay their visit and "work" babysitting the child while the parents return to work. That is not acceptable.

The mother-in-law being a widow makes it even harder to prove the non-immigrant intent.

It has nothing to do with the sponsor. It has to do with herself not proving enough ties to home country and with the prejudice against widows because of all of the abuse.

        Dear Senior Member/Moderator,
Is there a way at all that a widow with a only child can come visit her son/daughter. Is there any way we can provide some evidence that she has to come here for a medical treatment and if so HOW? Your help is much appreciated . Thanks.

Using medical care as an excuse for a visa most likely will not work. You would be required to show that you have the resources to pay for the care. Realize that the cost of treatments for serious diseases can exceed a million dollars, you beed to be prepared to show a very large savings to justify entry.

Thanks for the reply. Though my mom had all documents including the family pension papers , property documents and interests from savings bonds the CO did not even gave her a chance to show the documents .

If we reapply what are her chances?

What documents to prove she would go back has to be provided? ( And how should it be presented?)

              Shoba 24,
I am sorry that your widowed mother's case got rejected for a visitor visa. Do not loose hope and search through this forum for an answer where visa was granted to a widow even after 3 failures.
I wish your mother good luck.
