  • Parents got visa but Different Validity Dates

    Hi,

My parents attended visa interview at chennai consulate on November-06-2008, They received their passports on 10-Nov-08. The strange thing here is

My mother got visa until 2018, But my father got his visa until 12-31-2008.
We are planning to bring both of them to USA for 6 months, now it is not possible.

did anybody experience this situtation before and what did they do to get it resolved.

I appreciate your suggestion/input in this regards.

    Thanks

it could be a misprint, but your dad can still visit for 6 months as long as he enters before 12-31-2008, his stay will be detemined by the I-94 stamp. not the date on the visa.

but he should not stay longer than the time period mentioned in the application if he hopes to get a new visa.

It is quite possible that the VO intended to give different visa dates especially if your father is still working or has a specific work history that would bring up some questions.

I suggest that sine he was given a limited visa date that he not use all of the authorized visit time to increase his chances of getting another visa. A 6 month "visit" is quite long by US standards.

        Received Mail From USCIS

        Thanks for your responses.

        Here what i did,

I sent a mail to Chennai consulate explaining the issue.
I got response back with in two days saying that it was just a mistake,
They asked us to send my father original passport back along with my mother passport copy thru VFS,
They said they will correct the date and send back in 5 working days.

I will update once i get passport back.
