Importing medicine from India

Hi

My parents are staying with me in USA on tourist visa and I would like to get them some medicines(tablets) from India. I don't know any one travelling to USA soon and hence would like to know if I could ask some one to speed post the tablets from India to my residence here. Is it allowed or whats the right procedure to get this done? If someone could answer my dilemma, it would be really helpful.

There is a doctor that did this in US and is behind bars. You can get them with a prescription but could get confiscated by customs.

Why not take them to US doctor for prescriptions. You will need to pay for visit. If these are not maintenence meds, they should be seen by a doctor before treating new illness.
