  • Help in assessing my chances for Visitor Visa

    Hello Everyone,

I will be open and honest here to get the right kind of help.

I have a girlfriend who is a green card holder. We met online and after a relationship of two years we have decided to take it to the next level of marriage. The problem is my gf's parents wants to meet me before agreeing. They are all in US and I am in India. Now, after a series of discussion it has been concluded that I HAVE to go to US to meet them. Now, I own a small business that is struggling to run properly along with a partner. I have been mostly freelancing for the past 1 year. My bank account has got around 1,00,000 INR. I have a 30,000 INR mutual funds too that I invested 2 years ago.

Now, I have few visa options in mind:
1.) H1-B - Will take a lot of time. Dependent on lottery too.
2.) Visitor Visa - This seems to be the closest to the best visa option that I can go for. Now, I don't have a huge bank balance but I can show land on my name that I have in India. Also, I live with my mother. I have to take care of her since she is alone. My dad is in UAE and my siblings are in south india due to jobs. Now, showing land on my name, showing that my mother will be alone and I need to come back to take care of her - Will these points be enough to convince the Visa officer that I will surely come back? Also, regarding my job, either I can get a letter on my business letter head that I am going for a vacation and my partner will take care of it. I just need to visit US for mere 10 days. Also, I can try to get someone from US who will be willing send me an invitation letter (maybe it will help).
3.) Any other visa you guys can suggest me.

Please, don't think of me as someone who is desperate to go to US. I am a computer engineer and very happy being in India with such a good economy. It is a matter of heart that I need to solve. I hope you guys can understand this. Thanks a lot in advance.

First things first. Marrying a GC holder involves a long road to petition and wait for 4-5 or more years before your petition to follow to join the spouse will be approved.

    Do some research.

Yes, I absolutely agree with you.

Right now my concern is to meet her parents and make things work out. I would any day want to marry her and settle in India itself and she too wants the same. The point to be noted is neither I am worried about getting GC or anything after marrying her. My only objective is to clear out the smoke between our families.

      Thanks .

You have to try for a visitor visa and prove ties to home country. No one can predict if you get it or not. Depends on your job, ties to family and property in your home country.
