  • A small help on support documents

    Hi Guys,

I was checking the documents that I will need to submit along with the forms:

    1.) DS156
    2.) DS157
3.) Bank statement for 6 six months (I am sponsoring myself).
4.) IT Returns for past 3 years.
5.) Affidavit citing reasons why I will come back to India. (does affidavit and cover letter mean the same OR I need to have a cover letter too?).
    6.) Passport & a photograph.
    7.) HDFC Bank reciepts.

    Now, I have two queries:

1.) Even though I am sponsoring myself and would visit a friend during the stay do I need to have a letter (signed, scanned & printer) from my friend? if yes, what it should state?

2.) My DS157 application has only one page. It is a pdf file but there is no place for signature at the bottom. Is that right? I read that I need to duly sign the DS157 form but I cannot see any place asking for my signature in the document.

I can answer question 1. IF visiting your friend is just a side event and your actual purpose of visit is something more important ( like business), there is no need to get any letter from your friend. You should not even mention that you will be visiting your friend.

But you must carry all documents related to your primary reason for visit.

you have to write your name in DS157 in your native language
that is placed in the first line 3 column not at the bottom
