I am aged 23, just out of graduation.. not working! and am intending to apply for a travel visa with my parents ( dad is a doctor and moms a housewife) to visit my sister who is a student since this Sept 2004 in US. We have a few relatives there as well but all cousins. However I do intend to apply for a student visa later on but as to when is not certain... may be in dec 2005 or later.
My query is whether we have a good chance to get a travel visa? We genuinely intend to come back since my father has a good set up here.
If unfortunately we get rejected ... god forbid.. then is that likely to affect my chances of getting my students visa adversely?

    Please advise me about this!

If you get rejected, that would not most likely affect your future student visa.

      travel visa inquiry

      thanks immihelp!
1.Can u pls tell me what is the minimum duration for which I could be alloted a visa? I mean I am planning to apply in April 05 end but may be wanting to travel by mid Oct 05.... the exact time of travel being not certain due to some committments.
2.Hence I want to know what is the duration of validity period within which I must travel to US once my visa is issued.
3.Can this minimum validity period be 3 months? This would mean that I must travel within April to July period! That may not be possible for me... as i may need to travel later! Any advise on how to avoid this situation?
      thanks once again.

        Re: travel visa inquiry

You can not apply so soon.

You have to apply max. 90 days before your school starts.

          Visitors Visa for in-laws

I had a question about applying for my wife's parents to come here for a visit. I am a US citizen and she is a greencard holder. She works part time and earns about $10, 000 a year and I work full-time and ear about $45,000 a year. We read at one area of your site that said if you are inviting your spouse's parents and your spouse works, then the spouse should be the primary sponsor. If necessary, both people can submit financial information together as co-sponsors.

We are wondering if it will make a difference on who the primary sposor is (income vs. relationship) and how weshould go about applying as co-sponsors, since there is only room for one name on the I-134.

          Thank you

            Rocky's Balu's question

Rocky - I don't think there would be a difference in who is sponsiring but it makes more sense if you sponsor because your income is more than your wife's. In covering letter/invitation letter (to INS ) you can indicate that
you both work and financially sound enough to bear all expenses of your in-laws. You get sample letters on this site, by the way.
