  • Visitor Visa - 2nd attempt at Chennai

My mother's visa was rejected in June this year at Chennai. The reason was 214(b).My wife is pregnant now with TWINS.When my mother went for the interview in June, however she was not pregnant.I took an appointment for the 2nd attempt at Chennai for Nov 16th.As my wife falls under a High Risk pregnancy cate****y,the doctor suggested to get my mother or someone for help and she also gave a letter stating these facts and suggested to submit along with other docs for Visa.
I am the only son and my mother is a widow.I have a sister, who is married and has a daughter, stays in Baroda with her husband.
In the first attempt I clearly stated the reson for the trip as Tourism and to spend some time with us.I have been reading through some experiences here in this site as well as other similar sites that it is not advisable to tell about Pregnancy as the reason during the interview.
Till now,I am thinking of telling that as the reason honestly, submit the doctor's letter . As Twin pregnancy is quite different from a normal one , I am inclined towards giving them this reason. However,I am not sure if twins make any difference for the Visa officer.I request everyone here to share your experineces and give your valuable advise.
Shall I mention this as a reason or not ? Shall i go simply tourism as the reason. I am going to use the sample letter posted for re-applying and write in a similar manner. Please provide your valuable advise. Thanks in advance.

never mention pregnancy as reason. She will be definitely rejected.

Tourist visa is for tourism. As simple as that.

      Hello all,
Can anyone quote their experience in which they know if anyone got visa by mentioning pregnancy as the reason honestly at the time of interview ? As I explained earlier, our case is of Twins and we need definite help before and after pregnancy. The doctor clearly suggested us to get someone to look after. As per the doctors,we should be prepared starting from Feb 1st week itself, eventhough the due date is 3/20/2005 as well as for cesaerian.I appreciate everyone's advise.

never mention pregnancy as a reson

never mention pregnancy as a reson, even doctors certificate (in case of pregenany complication) doesn't work.
        good luck.

As mentioned in the earlier posts never give the reason for visiting as Pregnancy. My parents were asked the same question and though the reason was exactly for pregnancy we told them strictly not to mention.

In the sample letter you can mention about strong ties your mother has in the homeland and that SHE HAS TO GO BACK AFTER A SHORT STAY.

Is getting your mother the only option? May be you can consider getting your wife's parents. I am sorry to say but I read about lot of rejections for widows.

Wish you good luck and hoping your people get the visa.

My mother got the Visa ...

Thanks for all who shared their experiences ! My mother got the Visa yday in Chennai. I would like to share my experience as I went with Pregnancy (we are going to have twins)as the reason contrary to the perception that one should never mention it. It may get rejected in majority cases if that reason is mentioned, but in my case it worked. My mother told me that when she mentioned that she would be going to provide emotional and physical support and we are going to get Twins, the officer smiled and said OK.I think there is no hard and fast rule that says - if you mention pregnancy, you will be definetely rejected. It varies from case to case.In my case,it is totally different and with doctor's letter submitted along with my detailed letter to consulate, might have helped my mother's case.

In some cases, perhaps telling them honestly and provide the supporting evidence would work.
