Re-applying at Chennai consulate

My parents visa got rejected (214 b) on Sep 29, without looking at a single document. I understand that they can re-apply after 3 working days. So, I went ahead and booked an appt for Dec 14th. However, some friends suggested that going back so soom might not help and there are more chances of having a second-time rejection and asked me to wait for atleast 6-7 months before re-applying. Can anyone please post their suggestions or experiences in Chennai consulate about the wait time between 1st and 2nd appts?

It is purely a luck factor. Some people who went so soon also got visa and some people who went after 6 months also got visa rejected.
