  • Visitor visa for a medical conference /Admission Test

    Hi,
My cousin recently completed MDS (Master of Dental Surgery) and working in a private hospital for the past couple of months. He is planning to study in the US for which he has to take a DAT (Dental Admission Test). This test has to be taken at a Prometric testing center in the USA and can't be taken in India or some where else.

He is also planning to attend a medical conference in Kentucky. His intention is to take the test and visit the seminar during his trip.

We are planning to take visa appointment for a visitor visa and have couple of questions and concerns. Appreciate anyone sharing their experience or any suggestions.

    1. What should we mention as the purpose of the trip. Conference or admission test or both?

    2. If we mention Conference only and the VO thinks this is not a compelling reason and rejects the case, my cousin's career may be spoiled as he has to wait for 6 months to apply again.

    3. If we mention the test, we are concerned that the VO may feel that he is planning to settle in USA and not willing to come back, and reject the case. Is this a valid concern? Anybody applied and got a visitor visa mentioning the admission test as the purpose of the trip?

Thanks for your time and suggestions.
    Vicki
