  • Parents got visa !!!

Thanks to the Immihelp website and all of you for your kind help. My parents got the visitor's visa at the Chennai consulate and this was the first attempt!

    Not many questions were asked.

Q)How many children they have and where are they?
    A) We have...(all my sisters live in India)

    Q)Do you have sons?
    A)No

Q)why they need visa for 6 months?
    A) US is a vast country...need some time to see all the places

Q)Will the employer agree for the long stay in the US?
A)Letter was given with the employer consent(Parents run a partnership business and that was a letter from the partners)

    Q)Does your daughter have children?
    A) Yet to plan( actually we are expecting our first child!)

Alright have a nice trip to the USA!!!

Wanted to share this news. Once again thank you.

    Krishna

    Update

I just spoke with my parents in detail. I am not sure what you have experienced earlier, but now the security and the rules have been tightened to a great extent. The consular officers are no more Indians and all are Americans. Some officers are also giving sermons that one does not have to visit or settle in US but continue life in India which I feel is totally ridiculous.

My parents could see and hear other people getting interviewed and were praying that they should not be called at a particular counter in which the person was talking rudely and irritable with all the canditates. Luckily they went to a counter which was occupied by a lady and she was pleasant in nature.

About documents, they dont check everything you submit and all depends on the type of questions asked and the appropriate replies you give.

They came across a couple almost 60+ and they were coming for the 3rd time and had to literally beg for visa to be issued. I feel really sorry for those who have to go through this painful process. My father did not feel good about the entire process though he got the visa at the first attempt. But I guess we have no choice but to put our parents through this procedure they never would even dare to dream.

WISH YOU ALL GOOD LUCK AND HOPE YOUR PARENTS/INLAWS GET VISAS WITHOUT ANY HASSLES

      Courier Fees

      Krishna,

Congrats on your parents' visa. I have a quick clarification. How did they pay for courier fees to TT Services. Was it in cash or demand draft. Please reply.

      Thank you for you time

Consular officers have always been Americans. They are never Indians.

There are other support staff like TTS people, other clerks, interpreters that are Indian.

As for TTS fees, please look https://www.immihelp.com/usa-visa-fees/

          Thats strange !

Its news to me that all consular officers are Americans! When we went for our GC interview in 2002, the officer was an Indian and even at the other counters I saw mostly Indian consular officers. Only at oath taking we saw an American lady.

            Re: Thats strange !

            Those must be clerks!

I have never heard consular officers being Indian. That simply does not make sense. (In rare cases, it may be possible that some consular officer is of Indian origin, but US citizen. But they have to be US citizens.)

Yes, the lady that you saw at the time of oath is the only consular officer you saw. Other person must be clerk who is collecting documents from you, making sure all the documents are in order, may ask you some basic questions that may help busy consular officer in making the decision.

Many years back, I have visited consulate myself for my own immigration/visa purposes and have experienced this first hand. Also recently, I was given official walk through of VFS in person at Mumbai and was explained many procedures followed by them. Therefore, I am very sure.
