Following was the conversation with the Officer at the consulate.

Officer: How many kids do you have?
Mom: Two, son and a daughter.

    Officer: Where is your daughter?
Mom: She is Pune and works for XYZ company.

    Officer: Is she married?
    Mom: No

Officer: Who will look after her while you are gone?
Mom: Her cousins and uncle can look after her for a short while, while I'm visiting USA.

Officer: Why do you want to go to USA?
Mom: I wish to see those world famous places and visit several other places like .... (interrupted and asked to give short answers!)

Officer: Is your son a citizen of USA?
Mom: I don't know that but he has a green-card and a copy of that is attached to the document.

Officer: Can you show me the green-card copy?
Mom: I don't know which one please find all that you need from here.
[My mom this time gave the whole bundle of documents, which was tabbed and organized neatly by my sister so that Officer can retrieve documents easily!]

Officer: Do you have a letter from your son inviting you to visit him?
Mom: Yes. [Gave the letter that I wrote in Marathi and sent to her earlier.]

Officer: How long do you want to stay there?
Mom: [Earlier 6 VISA applicants were rejected and all of them said 6 months or 1 yr, so ...] Two months!

Officer: [Smiling] OK, your VISA is approved but don't stay more than 40 days!
    Mom: Thank you.

I don't know whether the VISA given is for just 40 days of Officer just cautioned her. Will know this once we get the passport. Also getting VISA, I think, is just pure luck! So no matter how much prepared / unprepared you are ... all that matters is whether or not "the stars are favorable to you!".

    Good luck folks!
