  • visa got rejected - when to reapply

    Hi,

My parents' visa got rejected under section 214(b) on April 2nd, 2004. We realized that we could have made our case more convincing after reading the experiences on the board. I am thinking of reapplying within the next month or two and wonding on the chances of getting approved. Appreciate if people who re-applied within 2-3 months successfuly (after initial rejection), share their experiences.

Also please post if you have any good references of agents (pref Hyd/Chennai/Vijayawada surroundings) who can help prepare our parents' visa petition.

    Many thanks in advance.

what docs did they not provide?

Hi, can you give some more details about your parents situation like age, employment, questions asked etc.
Also your statement "We realized that we could have made our case more convincing after reading the experiences on the board."was in terms of providing more documents ort better preparing them for the interview? I am asking this because my mother's visa also got rejected and trying to understand what I could have done better. Trying to see if there are any parallels here which we can take care of next time.

Were there any documents which your parents did'nt provide?

Don't go for any agents. They can not really influence or provide real help.

        please respond

rkkr, basically we wanted to improve documentation to reflect the family ties more strongly besides documenting all the properties.

        Administrator, thanks for the advice.

I want to know how good the chances are for getting approved if my parents go again in 2-3 months. I wanted to learn from some previous experiences. Unfortunately nobody responded so far.

Please respond if you or anybody you know, tried for second time within a year or so. Please.

        thanks

          Re: please respond

You can again try within 2-3 months. Many times you can get visa by luck also, but in general, if your circumstances have not changed since you originally applied, you may get rejected again.

            re:

I think in 2-3 months you can't change the situation much. Yes, you will provide lot more documentation this time but what is the guarantee that the consulate official will see it. The first which will come to his mind is that your parents just came 2 months back and were rejected. I think a longer wait of atleast 6-8 months is better, atleast thats what I decided in my mother's case.

                Wait for a while

I was in the same situation last year. Both my parents' visa got rejected. I applied only for my mother after 2 months and it was rejected too. I waited for another year and applied for both of them, got the visa for 10 years. It is hard to tell on what basis they reject or issue visa.

                  Re:wait for a while

bvenkate, when you applied an year later what additional documents did you/your parents provide to the consulate? Did the consulate ask why they were rejected previously?

                      Re: visitor visa rejected

                      HI CP RAO
I read with concern that your parents' visa was refused.
I am one such unfortunate parent anxious to visit my children in US by refused visa 3 times within a span of 6 months. I have very strong social, financial and family ties in India. But the officer refused to see any thing; but flatly refused. We went with better documents and better prepared every time. But ultimately, we realised that LUCK is the only factor that plays its role in getting visa for US
If you try for your parents again, with a senator's letter from your State, it would help. Otherwise, if thereis no major change in the situations, the likelyhood of getting visa is very thin. wish you all the best
