  • Urgent!!! Please Help

My mother is going for Interview for Visitor Visa on April 29, I have sent her all the paperwork as mentioned in this site. Now, what has happened,

    1. some travel agent has told my parents, that if my mother will make Perosnal affidavit for herself stating her ties to India, her Visa will be 100% refused.I don;t understand whys that. Please advise if this is just wrong suggesttion or somethign is right in his statement.
    2. In my Letter to consulate, i have written both things like she is visiting us and would be going to different places in CA, So please grant her Tourist Visa. The same travel agent has told them that It should not be Tourist visa, it should just be Visitor Visa. Please advise if there is big difference in both or it does not matter much.If it does then can i fax them a new letter, or Embassy needs original .Please Please Advise.

    Please advise in both questions...anyone...

This is really urgent...Thanks in advance to all of you.

    hi

i think i personal affidavid u don`t need to show ties for ur mother in india.ya but u need to add a line if u haven`t that while her tour to to US u will bear the entire tour cost of her n look after her till she is back to india.

n the answer to the 2nd question is tourist n visitor visa is same .or in thier means in consulate language u can write b1/b2 which means tourist ir visitor visa.b1/b2 means tourist visa or vivtor visa too.
so wish u all the best for ur parents .
    bye.

          Hi Harpreet,
To my own limited knowledge, it's best to take the personal
affidavit to show ties to India. Personal affidavit strengthens
the case and doesn't make it weaker. My parents applied on April 15th
          (delhi consulate)
and got visa for 10 years and with them they took the personal
affidavit, similar to one here on this website. Sometime, the travel
agents have limited knowledge and confuse people.

To your second question, there is no difference between travel
visa or tourist visa. Actually it's B2 visa, which is tourist visa.
Your mom can mention that she is going for site seeing and to
          spend some time with you.

          Hope this helps.

            Thanks for your advise

            Sg04,

Thanks so much for your advise..u know what i am feeling so much relaxed now because now i think i wn't have to change any paperwork in such a short period..Yes, you are right travel agents make people more confuse and afraid for interview.

My mom was pretty comfortable for the interview, but this morning when agent told her this, she was loosing her confidence and was asking me that what to do..Anyways!!! thanks again for you help in this.Would you please tell that how old are your parents? did they apply through Drop Box or interview and what questions were they asked.I would really appreciate your reply. You can directly send me an e-mail to my perosnal e-mail addrses at [email protected].

Thanks and waiting for Immihelp's reply to get the same response.

              Hi Harpreet,
My parents went for interview. My dad is 60+ and my mom
              59. Consulate officer wants to make sure that person applying
for visitor visa will come back. For my parents they just looked
at I-134 that I sent, my passport copies and copy of I-797.
For my parents office just looked at the passport and application.
Didn't even bother to look at their personal affidavits or other
papers showing their ties to India. But it's always a good idea to take
these papers. In case if they want to see.

Officer, just asked some simple questions to my dad:
              1. Where do I live in US ?
              2. Why are they going to US ?
              3. Where do I work ?
              4. Where did my dad use to work before retiring ?
              5. How many children do my parents have ?

For my parents it was straightforward case. I have a big
family and all of my brothers, sister and their kids are in India.

Just ask your mom to remain calm during the interview. From
my parents experience it should not be any problem getting visa.

Hope this helps and best of luck to your mom.

              regards,
              sg04
