I have seen people disucss that their parents visa has been refused due their working for missile labs, etc

What's the deal here ?

let's say you worked for nuclear reactor plant and power plant @#%$'t it ok to say that.

The issue of course is terrorism. After 9/11, the US government got quite paranoid, and people who have worked in such facilities are now considered a possible security risk, since they know how these facilities work.
The same, btw, applies for researchers in these fields. They often can't even go to conferences in the US.
