How much time it takes to get back the passport?

Can anyone tell me how much time it takes in Delhi to get back the passport?

My wife lives in Ghaziabad and she usually gets it back in 3 days. (she has applied 4 times over the last 7 years - 1999, 2000, 2003 and 2005)
I got mine in 2 weeks but I was in Lucknow. That was in 2001.
