Is two appointments required for both mom and dad for visitor visa?

Hi, I am planning to apply visitor visa for my parents. I am on H1B now.
If I want to apply for both my mom and dad, I have to pay two application fees( one DD for each) and two visa service charge fees. In that case will i get two reciept numbers or one?
If I get two which one i am supposed to use to make an appointment?
How do i make a single appointment for both of them (they may want to attend visa interview together rather than separately) ?

Please let me know. I asked couple of my friends, but all of them applied for only one parent. I couldnt get much help.
