Passport expiring but Visa still valid

Hello:
My parents are planning to visit for the summer and they have their visa untill 2010 but thier Indian passport in expiring in july 2009. Will they able to travel to US this month and get their Indian passport extended in the US.

This will be their 3rd trip to the US and in both their earlier trips thye had returned to India within the time frame stamped on their I94.

That's OK. Just carry both the passports.
