  • Need Information about Affidavit of Support form

    Hi Guys

I am trying to sponsor my GF(Girl Friend) who has just started working in India. I will be solely responsible for her trip and expenses which I am going to provide in I-134 form and in the letter to the Embassy. I am currently on H1 B and have $10,000 in my bank account as of today and an annual salary of $80,000. Following are the list of concerns I have.
    1. I currently do not have any apartment lease documents as I am living with my Aunt.
    2. I work as a contractor at different locations although my employer is based out in New Jersey. My current location and employer location are different.
    3. I have all the money in my checking account and not in my savings account in my USA bank account.
    4. I do not have any personal property in India nor in the USA.
    5. I do not have any stock bonds in any market.
    6. I do not have any life insurance or any kind of insurance except my car insurance.
    7. I do not own any real estate property with mortgage.
    8. My GF's has just finished her graduation and is working since past 4 months and her income in India is just Rs. 4000 (US $80 approx) per month.

I want to know if any of my concerns listed above would affect my GF's B2 visa processing? What are the chances of her getting the visa? What else would I need to provide to make the case look more stronger?

What you have or dont have does not matter. What matters is what she has. What is the purpose of her visit? Remember that consulate does not recognize the term GF, if she is your fiancee then you have to apply for another appropriate type of visa.

My friend you gave me a disappointing answer. There are cases where you can sponser you girl friend. I also confirmed this with an attorney.

Fiancee visa is only for Citizens of united states, I do not fall in that category as I am on H1 B. I can sponser anyone I wish provided I can prove I know them personally. All I wanted to know was that in the I-134 form there where sections to mention sponsors personal property, stock bonds in any market, life insurance and real estate property with mortgage held by the sponsor. I do not have any one these with me, Is it mandatory to have all these or no ?

According to the B2 rules if a visitor does not have enough funds with him or her, they can be supported by the sponsers funds for the complete trip. In that case my (sponsor) documents will be very important than the visitors.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Good point, I do remember that thread from the past. So you are still in the game! All those property etc are not mandatory, enough cash would be fine too, like it was for me. But property etc. would help the applicant to prove ties to home country to overcome immigrant intent.
