  • Twice rejected...214b question

My father in law and mother in law's visa got rejected once for our wedding in April 2005. They were so disappointed my father in law didn't want to try back. My mother in law tried after 2 years in Jan 2007 but again got rejected. They keep giving "214b" as a reason.

When we are sponsoring does it matter what their financial situation is?

I don't understand what exactly they want. Whatever they asked my in laws answered accordingly.

After 2 years again we are trying again. This time we don't want them to fail otherwise they would never ever try back. Please advice what we can do to get them passed this time.

The 1st time it seemed like they rejected because as soon as my husband came here on H1b we got married (registered marriage). We got engaged in India. VO asked "why does your son get married in USA and not in India?" Well, we didn't know our getting married in USA could cause problems for my inlaws visa. Does not make sense. Anyway, second time, they asked my mother in law whats your annual income or annual household income...and she said 1 lakh rupees. They didn't look at any of the documents we sent which had I-134 Affidavit of Support.

When and how do they tell the Consulate that we are sponsoring them?

My father in law is retired. He has a retail shop in his name but his younger son is handling it now. He has some bank balance is that enough to get the visa this time? Can my in-laws tell them somehow that we are sponsoring them?

This time we are planning to say "Their tieback is they have property like house, shop, commerical property etc. lots of relatives, friends, they love to be in India but they just want to tour and spend time with us in USA."
