Visitor's Visa/Saving Balance

Regards. The web site is so helpful and it contains most of the important information. As you rightly say that issuance of VISA is case sensitive, I have a few issues which are specific to our case. We need some help from you.

We have a son, who has just graduated, completing his Ph.D.. We wish to attend his graduation ceremony/convocation, which will take place in August.

We want to visit on self sponsoring basis. We own a home based Electronics manufacturing Industry at Hyderabad. We have a married daughter, staying at Hyderabad.

What is the right time for us to apply for VISA.

For an approximate stay of around 10-12 weeks at USA, what would be the appriximate money in dollars we have to take along with us.
Is it essential for us to have big balances in Savings A/C.
We normally do not keep money exceeding the routine need in SB. We save in the form of FDs/Investments. Please clarify.

You don't need big balances in savings account. Even if you have them in FD, that is OK.

You need to have enough money to take care of the expenses. There is no standard rule.
