Hello,
I live in the UK and am planning on travelling to the USA for one week at the beginning of July. I have scheduled an appointment with the US Embassy in London for the beginning of June. I have used the online ESTA service and found that I'm not legible for the visa waiver scheme any more (this is why I am going to the embassy in person).
The reason for the inegibility is that I have been refused a VISA back in 2007. I was told that I couldn't demonstrate sufficiant ties to the UK at the time, however I am a UK citizen (born here!) and am employed in the UK. I've been at my current job since 2005.
The rejection from I was given is form number NIV214b .
How do I go about showing that I have sufficiant funds and have some sort of residence to return to? I do, though currently I live at home with parents, so how do I go about telling the embassy this as although I do have a place to return to, I am not a property owner.
I do have sufficiant funds to support myself while in the USA, although I only recieve (UK) minimum wage. Do I have to be extremely wealthy to qualify, for example would I need UKP 20,000 in my bank account before I can qualify for the B2 Visa?
Also what does the embassy mean by 'strong social and economic ties' ?
I am trying to get together enough paperwork and information as another rejection would be a severe problem!
