My parents have all my papers in place... my sponsorship affidavit, their application forms and related documents. I am planning their US trip from 07/01 to 09/30.
1. Is there any harm in applying now (Early 03/2004) and then holding on to the approved visa for four months? The reason I have the question is that on the off chance that they get a 6 month visa approved, they would have wasted 4 months just sitting on it in India.
2. Is the 'Expected Date of Travel' on the DS-156 form of any significance in the dates for which the visa is granted? My parents HAVE put an expected travel date of 07/01.
3. Is there a way I can renew their stay by a month while in the US, in case their 6 month visa does expire in the end of August?
I know that the INS officer at the port of entry can override these dates, but I still want to make sure my enthusiam does not complicated things.
Thank You for your suggestions/input!
