  • Mom Visiting again - docs reqd

    Hi,

My Mom has a multiple entry B2 visa which was stamped last year. She is planning to travel to the US again during June '09.

    1) What is the procedure for this? Can she just buy a ticket and get on a plane or there any documents she needs to have in hand?
    2) Also I am here on L1 and will be travelling to India during June to have my visa restamped as it is expiring in Aug. So will it be fine, if I get my visa restamped and accompany my mom and fly together; or will this cause any problems in the immigration here.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

    Regards,
    shanks.

Thanks for your answer on 2)
With respect to 1) does she need to have any documents with her before flying? are there any specific documents that are required which maybe asked at the immigration counter here?

      Regards,
      Shanks.

If she has a multiple entry visa then that is all she would need to show at the port of entry. My parents and in-laws have travelled the exact same way.

I would also say that you ask your mom to keep your phone numbers and address handy if questioned by the Immigration officer. This had happened to my mother a few years ago and she did not have my address. So the officer called on my cell phone (which my mom provided) to confirm that I was expecting her.

But as far as "documents" go you should not need anything besides a valid passport and a visa. I would also say that you read the BCIS website to make sure you have everything per their guidelines...
