Hello experts,
A quick question, my passport had the first name and last name swapped ( the passport had just line for the name field ) - accordingly B2 visa was issued with the names just like how it was on the passport (first name and last name swapped).
That passport expired and I now have a new passport with the name correct, I had also gotten this corrected in the expired passport but after the visa was issued.
The B2 visa is STILL VALID in the new passport for another 3 years. I sent a query to the embassy and to my surprise the response I got was I need to apply for a new visa interview. I am going ahead with that and have paid the HDFC receipt and waiting for it to get activated.
I am baffled at the response I got from the consulate because I still have a valid B2 visa ( with the first / last name swapped in it) since that is how it is in my old expired passport. I also have traveled to US on this visa when my previous passport was valid 7 years ago, I was hoping they would tell me that I was fine and could travel with my expired and new passport, I didn't expect that I would need to apply for a new visa interview - seems kinda of strange, I am not sure who responds to the queries sent to the embassy, whether he/she had adequate knowledge regarding this.
I am preparing to now go ahead with the interview, what should I do ? can you please advise.
