My mother was planning to visit me in the US, so I had sent her visa documents. When she went to the visa interview the following happened:
Officer : Who are you going to visit?
Mom: My elder son
Officer: How long has he been in US?
Mom: 7years
Officer: What does R. YYYY (her name) stand for, she said R means Rathinam
Officer: Why is your name in sons passport as YYYY Ammal, she said Ammal doesnt mean anything
The problem was my mothers name in my passport was YYYY AMMAL whereas in her passport it was YYYY RATHINAM.
The visa officer rejected the visa under 214(B).
What do I do now? Can I change my moms name in my
passport (because thats the one that is wrong) and apply for her visa again?
Will changing her name in my passport suffice? Whats puzzling me is why they have rejected under 214(B)? Also the next time i am planning to apply for visa for both my mom and dad. Will this cause any problems?
