Visitors Visa - Travel back to India

I have scheduled an appointment for my parents in Chennai Consulate for visitors visa. In the mean time due to health reasons i had to travel back to India. Since it is treatment not sure when i will be tavelling back to US. So it is legal for them to attend the interview when i am not present in US during their interview date.

There is no issue of legality if they attend.
