  • visa interview completed but passport not returned

    Hi,
my father went for a visitor visa interview at hyderabad and after the interview they said passport will be mailed to the home address. does this mean visa will be given? If viaa was denied, are passports returned back after the interview or is it a new rule that whether visa is denied or not all passports are sent through mail?

If the visa was denied, they would have immediately returned the Passport to your father. Since he is getting the visa, the passport will be sent by courier after the visa is stamped. Please wait for the courier. Did your father not ask the VO about the status of the visa at the time of the interview?

The VO asked my father to wait outside after the interview and since his interview was one of the last one an attender later came and asked my dad to leave. There was no mention of passport or visa denied.

In this situation you need to wait for the passport to arrive by courier.

Not sure, if he will get it via courier or have they put it through admin processing.
It happened with us as well, they kept our passport back after the interview and it has been 2 weeks now, and now they are saying it is undergoing administrative processing.
In my case, it was simply a renewal as my visa was still valid for approx 2 more years but the expired passport on which visa was stamped had the last name , middle name order changed and so when the new passport came the name was correct and the name on the visa in the expired passport didn't 100% match that on the new passport and so when we queried regarding this we were advised to apply or a new visa, it is a pity , has been 2 weeks and still waiting, the embassy says it is undergoing administrative processing and doesn't give any time frame.

            thank you benz

Did you get any forms like 221g or anything after the interview? Did the VO mention that you got the visa after the interview. My dad was told nothing after the interview - visa approved or denied.

Unfortunately , the VO did not hand out any slip, they should have handed a pink slip from what I gather.
All he said was it will take some time.
Did you inquire from the consulate as to why is there a delay ? were you handed a pink slip or not ? It is very frustrating.

will someone please let us know as to how long we may have to wait.will they not consider the fact that we have to leave on 8th and return the passport with visa in time
