I have a unique situation wherein my parents visa has got rejected 3 times in the last 7 years. They have been patiently waiting and I have an appt in 10 days where they will be going in with a letter from congresswoman of my CA district.
a) May 2001: In the interview, they asked if I was the only son which my parents truthfully answered yes. They said "oh you will not come back" and denied. I was on H1-B at that time
b) June 2001: They re-applied. The consulate did not even let them have inteview. They just gave papers back and said rejected.
c) Dec 2006: My status had changed to GC holder (perm resident). They applied because my wife was expecting twins and she really needed my folks. Again visa rejected. My father tells me that the counsellor looked at the history of the application carefully and asked " Are you retired" and he said yes (since he is). They said. Sorry.
d) Now i have an appt in June 2009. (in 10 days). My and my wife's status is now US citizen. I got a letter from the Congresswoman of our district wherein they have articulated my parents ties to India, about their 3 properties that they own and that my grandma who lives with my parents. All strong reasons to come back and requested that the consulate issue the visa.
Please advise on what else can be done. Anything else we should be prepared with. Why is the consulate using the "only child" and "retired" reason for denying visa to 65+ parents who do not want to anyways stay here.
Really appreciate feedback/suggestions.
Thanks
